Roles & Responsibilities

• Complete Activity Therapy Assessments for new and existing patients with clarity and compassion
• Design and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings
• Run multiple psychotherapeutic group activities daily for adult, child, adolescent and geriatric patients
• Serve as the primary group facilitator while collaborating with RNs and Techs to meet staffing ratios
• Document all assessments, treatment plans and group notes accurately in Cerner
• Use multimedia tools and Webex-capable equipment to enhance group engagement
• Adapt therapeutic activities to meet varied clinical needs across inpatient and outpatient settings
• Contribute to a positive patient experience through thoughtful, evidence-based therapeutic interventions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (activity therapy, recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, occupational therapy, expressive arts therapy)
• Certification, licensure, or registration in an appropriate area (for example: LRT, LRT-A, CTRS, ATR, MT, R-DMT)
• NC licensure or ability to obtain NC licensure where applicable (examples noted in posting)
• Minimum 2 years of experience running therapeutic groups in a relevant clinical setting
• Strong clinical documentation skills with experience using Cerner preferred
• Comfort working across age groups (child, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and in both inpatient and outpatient settings
• If not certified in alternative therapies, candidates such as LCSW, LCMHC or LMFT may be considered

Education

• Bachelor's degree in activity therapy, recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, occupational therapy, expressive arts therapy or a closely related field

Knowledge & Skills

• Activity therapy assessment and treatment planning
• Psychotherapeutic group facilitation and running structured groups
• Clinical documentation and electronic health record proficiency (Cerner)
• Ability to tailor interventions for children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients
• Experience with Webex and integrating multimedia into therapeutic sessions
• Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams (RNs, Techs, providers)
• Understanding of inpatient psychiatric workflows and patient ratio considerations
