Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert neonatal and pediatric respiratory care across NICU, PICU and pediatric floors
• Manage mechanical ventilation and advanced ventilator modalities (including HFOV and neonatal/peds vents)
• Perform airway management procedures such as intubation and extubation with precision and calm
• Collect and analyze arterial and capillary blood gases to guide treatment decisions
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in Cerner EMR
• Operate and troubleshoot transport and bedside ventilators (Hamilton, Newport, Draeger, etc.)
• Collaborate closely with nurses, neonatologists and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate and support families about respiratory therapies and care plans

Qualifications

• North Carolina Respiratory License (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - required
• BLS, PALS and NRP certifications - required
• NPS and ACLS - preferred
• Minimum 2+ years of respiratory therapy experience (neonatal/pediatric experience preferred)
• Willingness to work nights and rotating weekends as required by the schedule

Education

• Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate's degree or equivalent preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Neonatal and pediatric respiratory care and ventilator management
• Mechanical ventilation expertise including HFOV and high-flow systems
• Skilled in intubation, extubation and airway management
• Proficient in blood gas collection and interpretation
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR for accurate documentation
• Experience with Draeger infant/peds vents, Hamilton T1/C1, Newport HT70, Vapotherm and Infant Flow SiPAP
• Ability to work effectively in high-acuity NICU/PICU environments and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
