Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct patient care to residents in a correctional health setting
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Perform patient assessments, monitor vitals, and document clinical findings thoroughly
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans
• Follow infection control, safety, and security protocols specific to the facility
• Support orientation and mentorship for new staff during the 2-week orientation period

Qualifications

• Active California LVN license (required)
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willing to obtain during orientation)
• Previous experience as an LVN preferred; correctional or med/surg experience a plus
• Ability to pass standard background checks and facility-required screenings
• Comfort working in a secure correctional environment and following established protocols
• Reliable attendance for Saturday-Wednesday schedule, including orientation

Education

• Completion of an accredited Vocational Nursing program (LVN diploma or equivalent)
• Active LVN licensure in California

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication administration and documentation best practices
• Basic patient assessment and clinical documentation
• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary setting
• Ability to triage, prioritize tasks, and remain calm under pressure
• Experience or comfort with behavioral health considerations (LPT familiarity is a plus)
