Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality postoperative orthopedic nursing care to adults and seniors
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings clearly in Cerner
• Manage wound care including dressing changes and Wound VAC maintenance
• Insert, monitor and care for Foley catheters and NG tubes as needed
• Remove sutures and staples and support safe postoperative mobility
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute patient care plans
• Educate patients and families on post-op care, mobility aids, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and uphold unit policies and safety standards

Qualifications

• Active NC nursing license (required)
• Registered Nurse (RN) with at least 2 years of relevant experience
• BLS certification (required)
• Hospital and orthopedic nursing experience preferred
• Comfortable with postoperative ortho care and common unit equipment (walkers, lifts, CPMs)
• Team-player attitude and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record system
• Wound care expertise including dressing changes and VAC systems
• Foley catheter care and urinary management
• NG tube management and enteral support
• Postoperative orthopedic care and patient mobilization techniques
• Familiarity with assistive devices and safe patient handling (lifts, Sara Stedy, hover mats)
