Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on a med-surgical/women’s surgical unit
• Assess, monitor and document patient status using the Cerner EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Administer and manage treatments and procedures appropriate to the unit (including chemo when certified)
• Perform or assist with occasional pelvic exams, cardiac echos and thoracentesis per unit protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe discharges and transitions
• Advocate for patients and families, providing education and emotional support throughout treatment

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (as listed in the posting)
• Chemo certification (preferred) — candidates with this will be considered first
• Experience with Cerner EMR and med-surgical or oncology nursing preferred
• Comfort working night shifts and the required weekend schedule (6 weekend days per schedule)

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology and women’s surgical nursing knowledge
• Med-surgical nursing skills and comfort with patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR documentation workflows
• Competence with procedures such as echo and thoracentesis and occasional pelvic exams
• Strong teamwork, communication and patient advocacy skills
