Shift Type: Day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (12-hour shifts); schedule includes every-other-weekend (EOW) requirement — 4 shifts per 4-week schedule; weekend day coverage typically Sat & Sun, weekend night pattern Fri & Sat for night shifts; floating required (may float to MSW, MHB, ICU or ER as needed).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality patient care on a fast-paced mixed MedSurg/Telemetry unit
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using Phillips telemetry and act promptly on changes
• Perform thorough patient assessments and coordinate care for acute, chronic and post-surgical patients
• Administer and manage set-rate drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin) per protocol
• Collaborate with RT, pharmacy, hospitalists/intensivists and the IV/charge teams to ensure continuity of care
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner (training/support available) and participate in AM huddles
• Float to other MedSurg/Tele areas as needed, supporting unit flow during high census or transfers

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state licensure required to work in California)
• Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience preferred (per job posting)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required (stroke care competency)
• Comfortable with telemetry patients, cardiac rhythm interpretation and set-rate drips
• Experience with MedSurg populations and post-surgical care (bariatrics, total joints) a plus
• Ability to work a fast-paced environment, adhere to strict attendance expectations, and float as needed

Education

• Active RN license required (BSN not required per job posting)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation (Phillips telemetry experience preferred)
• Patient assessment and acute care management
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR (preferred; candidates may test out of training)
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP management (per RT)
• Skills in handling non-titratable and set-rate drips
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to prioritize in a high-turnover, fast-admission/discharge environment
