Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions for acute care and perioperative/OR patients
• Perform thorough evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans focused on functional outcomes
• Deliver prosthetics/orthotics care, splinting, and manual therapy as clinically indicated
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Document assessments and plans accurately in Epic and maintain clear clinical records
• Educate patients and caregivers on activities of daily living, home safety, and adaptive strategies
• Participate in unit-based rotations and maintain a high standard of patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Active Occupational Therapy license appropriate for OR practice (OR lic required)
• NBCOT certification preferred
• BLS preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience (acute care experience preferred)
• Familiarity with Epic charting (required)
• Comfort working in a fast-paced short-term acute care and teaching hospital environment
• Willingness to work rotation schedules, weekends (approx. 3/month) and one holiday per year

Knowledge & Skills

• Acute care occupational therapy
• Perioperative/OR experience and protocols
• Epic electronic health record proficiency
• Orthopedics: hip/knee replacements, fractures, soft tissue injuries
• Prosthetics and orthotics knowledge (above- and below-knee, upper extremity)
• Splinting skills: dynamic, functional, static, orthoplast, serial/inhibitory techniques
• Modalities and manual therapy: TENS, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, edema massage
• Feeding techniques, activities of daily living training, and patient education
• Cardiac rehabilitation and biofeedback familiarity
