Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for hospice patients in an inpatient unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and ongoing symptom management to maintain comfort
• Develop and implement individualized care plans that reflect patients' goals and family preferences
• Educate patients and caregivers about symptom control, care techniques, and end-of-life expectations
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (social work, chaplaincy, physicians) to coordinate holistic care
• Respond to clinical changes with sound critical thinking and timely interventions
• Document all assessments, care provided, and family communications accurately and promptly
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide reliable support during assigned on-call shifts

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Experience or strong interest in hospice, palliative, or end-of-life nursing (inpatient hospice experience a plus)
• Strong assessment skills and demonstrated ability in symptom management and critical thinking
• Comfortable working night shifts and participating in an on-call rotation
• Excellent communication skills for patient, family, and interdisciplinary team interactions
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; hospice/palliative certifications (e.g., CHPN) preferred

Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN) — active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in symptom management and end-of-life care principles
• Skilled in comprehensive patient assessment and care planning
• Ability to teach and support patients and family caregivers compassionately
• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking in complex medical situations
• Familiarity with inpatient hospice workflows and documentation standards
• Comfort providing emotional, social, and spiritual support as part of holistic care
