Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room and Cardiovascular OR
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, scrub techs and charge nurses to ensure smooth case flow
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields and assist with surgical procedures as needed
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and communicate critical updates promptly
• Respond to call assignments within the 30-minute response window when scheduled
• Support patient handoff, recovery planning and continuity of care across the perioperative team
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing competency processes to maintain excellence

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (state licensure required to practice)
• ACLS and BLS certifications required for RNs
• Minimum 1 year of full-time perioperative/OR experience (CVOR skillset required)
• Experience working in Cardiovascular OR or with open heart cases is required
• Comfortable with cases such as total joints, general surgery, spine and urology
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system a plus
• Able to participate in call rotation, weeknight and weekend coverage as outlined

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing best practices and sterile technique
• Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) and Operating Room (OR) workflows
• ACLS and BLS life support protocols
• Experience with total joint, general, spine, urology and cardiac surgery cases
• Ability to document and navigate Cerner EMR effectively
• Strong communication, teamwork and rapid response skills
• Comfort working with charge nurse/house supervisor structure and specialty leads
