Roles & Responsibilities

• Verify and process inpatient medication orders with precision to ensure safe patient care
• Perform medication dosing and monitoring (vancomycin, aminoglycosides, anticoagulants) to optimize therapy
• Compound sterile IV medications following established protocols and Dose Edge verification
• Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians, overseeing pyxis checks, first doses, and emergency med boxes
• Document medication activities accurately in Meditech and support medication safety initiatives
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on pain consults and other clinical interventions
• Support decentralized pharmacy operations across the hospital’s diverse patient care areas

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited Pharmacy School (required)
• Licensed to practice pharmacy in Missouri (MO Pharmacist License required)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant inpatient pharmacy experience (as indicated)
• Experience with sterile compounding (IV) and supervising pharmacy technicians
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR and automated dispensing systems such as Dose Edge, Pyxis and Pak Edge
• ACLS and BLS preferred; NICU experience a plus

Education

• Degree from an accredited Pharmacy School

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of inpatient pharmacy workflows and medication distribution
• Proficiency in medication verification and clinical dosing strategies (vancomycin, aminoglycosides, anticoagulants)
• Skilled in sterile compounding processes and Dose Edge verification
• Comfortable using Meditech EMR for clinical documentation and order processing
• Experience managing automated dispensing systems (Pyxis, Pak Edge)
• Clear communication and leadership skills for supervising technicians and working with clinical teams
• Commitment to medication safety, quality improvement, and patient-centered care
