Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity maternal and newborn care with compassion and clinical excellence
• Continuously monitor fetal heart tracings and intervene appropriately to optimize outcomes
• Circulate during cesarean sections and assist with OR workflow when needed
• Administer IV medications, including magnesium infusions, safely and according to protocol
• Document care accurately and efficiently using Meditech
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, NICU staff, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver seamless care
• Support patient experience by educating patients and families and delivering patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (permitting practice in Virginia)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• Experience with circulating in the OR and familiarity with cesarean procedures preferred
• Comfort with high-acuity maternal/newborn care and IV medication administration
• AWOHHN Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate certification is listed as relevant but is not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation
• Meditech electronic documentation
• Circulating and scrub roles in C-sections and OR familiarity
• Management of epidurals and spinals
• Care for high-acuity maternal and newborn patients, including familiarity with Level III NICU processes
• Safe administration of IV drips such as magnesium
