Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator settings for neonatal, pediatric, and transported patients
• Perform airway management including intubation and extubation when indicated
• Collect and analyze capillary and arterial blood gases to guide therapy decisions
• Provide respiratory support for high-risk deliveries and NICU/Peds service lines
• Operate and troubleshoot a variety of respiratory equipment and transport ventilators
• Document patient care accurately in the Cerner EMR and communicate effectively with the care team
• Float to adult med floors when needed to support broader departmental needs

Qualifications

• North Carolina Respiratory License required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
• BLS, PALS, NRP required
• Minimum 2+ years of respiratory therapy experience (per posting)
• NPS and ACLS strongly preferred
• Comfortable with rotating nights and varying weekend schedule requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management expertise
• Airway management and neonatal/pediatric intubation skills
• Capillary and arterial blood gas collection and interpretation
• Experience in NICU and pediatric respiratory care
• Familiarity with EMR documentation, specifically Cerner
• Hands-on experience with equipment such as Draeger infant/peds vents, HFOV, Infant Flow SiPAP, Newport HT70, Hamilton T1/C1 transport vents, Vapotherm, and GE R860
