Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate ICU nursing care for post-CABG, transplant, ECMO and other complex cardiac patients
• Manage ventilators and perform advanced respiratory support for ventilated patients
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and titrate vasoactive medications per protocol and physician orders
• Deliver bedside assessments, timely documentation in Meditech, and clear shift-to-shift handoffs
• Respond quickly to changes in patient condition, initiate ACLS/CPR when required
• Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapy, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes
• Support unit quality initiatives and maintain bedside standards on a Beacon-awarded CVICU

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required; CVICU or post-cardiac surgery experience preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Demonstrated competence in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring and post-CABG care
• Comfortable working with high-acuity patients including ECMO and heart transplant cases
• Meditech experience preferred but not mandatory
• Professional bedside manner; bedside shift report and whiteboard updates required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong ICU critical care knowledge: ventilator management, hemodynamics, vasoactive drips
• Experience with post-operative cardiac care (CABG, transplant) and CVICU workflows
• CPR and ACLS proficiency and ability to lead resuscitation events
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation system
• Ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients and prioritize effectively
• Team collaboration, clear communication, and strong bedside reporting skills
