Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Plant Operations, Maintenance and Environmental Services across the health system with clarity and purpose
- Direct and indirectly supervise approximately 45 FTEs, fostering strong teams and developing staff through training and clear expectations
- Develop, implement and oversee preventative maintenance programs to ensure safe, reliable facility operations
- Ensure continuous operation of utility systems (heat, steam, electric power, gas, oxygen) vital to patient care
- Inspect machinery and equipment to meet operational standards and manufacturer recommendations
- Ensure outside contractors comply with regulatory agencies and hospital policies
- Act as a liaison with clinical and administrative departments to assess needs and develop action plans
- Maintain regulatory compliance with NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS and applicable local building and fire codes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum 5+ years of personnel management experience
- Thorough knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC and general building maintenance
- Familiarity with autoclaving, bio-waste management, life safety codes, construction phasing and environmental services operations
- Proven ability to apply engineering principles to diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment or systems
- Willingness to relocate to a rural area (required)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration or related preferred

- Facilities and maintenance management
- Preventative maintenance planning and execution
- HVAC and boiler systems, plumbing and electrical systems troubleshooting
- Utility systems operation and oversight
- Regulatory compliance (NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS)
- Environmental Services operations and bio-waste management
- Personnel management and contractor management
- Construction phasing, training development and stakeholder liaison
- Customer service expectations and department collaboration
