Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care to hemodynamically stable and predictably unstable patients across medical-surgical and progressive care populations.
• Assess patients continuously and intervene or escalate care for deteriorating conditions using advanced clinical judgment.
• Operate and manage advanced medical equipment including arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, and ventilatory support (invasive and noninvasive).
• Perform and manage multiple IV pumps and complex IV therapy safely and accurately.
• Interpret cardiac telemetry and EKGs to inform timely clinical decisions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (providers, charge nurses, ancillary staff) to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care from admission through discharge.
• Act as a clinical leader: precept new staff, provide direction to RN/LPN/CNA and support unit workflow and quality outcomes.
• Support discharge planning and patient/family education to promote safe transitions of care.

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN licensure required.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Practice experience in an advanced Medical-Surgical unit and recent Critical Care or Progressive Care nursing experience required.
• EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to precept and mentor staff, plus strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Comfortable working with pediatrics and a broad scope of surgical and medical diagnoses as listed in the posting.

• Degree from a Nursing Program

• Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Ventilator management (invasive and noninvasive)
• Central line and arterial line care
• Chest tube and nasogastric tube management
• Continuous bladder irrigation management
• Multiple IV pumps and complex IV therapy
• Advanced nursing procedures and critical assessment skills
• Pediatric care experience preferred
