Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for patients in the operating room
• Prepare the OR, instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to procedures
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure a safe surgical environment throughout cases
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and the perioperative team to optimize patient outcomes
• Monitor patient status and document care clearly and accurately in the medical record
• Participate in pre- and post-operative patient education and handoffs
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies and safety standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (eligibility or active licensure in Louisiana preferred)
• Experience in operating room or perioperative nursing preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained upon hire
• Advanced certifications such as CNOR or ACLS are a plus
• Strong teamwork, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to maintain sterile technique and follow infection control practices

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, supplies, and OR workflows
• Patient assessment and monitoring in the perioperative setting
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients and multidisciplinary teams
• Documentation in electronic medical records and adherence to safety protocols
• Ability to prioritize tasks and remain calm under pressure
