Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for patients in the operating room
Prepare the OR, instruments, and supplies, ensuring sterile technique is maintained
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team for seamless procedures
Monitor patient condition before, during, and after surgery and escalate changes promptly
Document care accurately in the patient record and participate in post-op handoffs
Participate in orientation and ongoing training to stay current with best practices

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana
Experience or strong interest in Operating Room (OR) / perioperative nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or required per facility
Clinical experience in a hospital OR setting is preferred
Strong communication skills, teamwork mindset, and attention to sterile technique

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Perioperative nursing principles and sterile field management
Familiarity with common surgical instruments and OR workflows
Patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring
Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation and handoff communication
Ability to work calmly under pressure and prioritize patient safety
