Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, family-centered critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Assess, monitor, and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions with sound clinical judgment
• Administer medications and manage complex therapies (including ventilator support) safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
• Educate and support families during critical moments with compassion and clear communication
• Maintain meticulous documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
• Participate in orientation and training activities to maintain unit excellence and mentor new staff

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license (Massachusetts) — required
• Experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nursing or equivalent pediatric critical care experience
• Completion of orientation (this role includes an orientation period)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-acuity pediatric environment

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and PICU protocols
• Skill in ventilator management and advanced airway support
• Proficiency with IV medications, infusion pumps, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Excellent family-centered communication and teaching abilities
• Ability to collaborate seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team
• Strong documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) skills
