Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality neuro stepdown nursing care and close monitoring for patients recovering from neurological events
• Perform and document NIHSS assessments as part of routine patient evaluations
• Use EPIC for accurate charting, medication administration, and interdisciplinary communication
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the care team to develop and implement individualized patient plans
• Maintain required certifications and documentation (Skills Checklist, Certification Card, references) in candidate profile
• Ensure seamless patient transitions and handoffs while upholding safety and quality standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with Nursys license verification included
• NIHSS certification MUST be included in CV packet to be considered
• EPIC experience required — please note this on your profile
• ACLS certification (preferred/required as noted)
• Minimum 2 years experience in neuro specialty (strong med/surg nurses with NIHSS and stepdown exposure may be considered)
• Complete candidate packet: Resume with no gaps greater than 60 days, Skills Checklist, References, Certification Card, and badge-appropriate photo
• Willingness to work weekends and adhere to unit scheduling requirements

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

Knowledge & Skills

• NIHSS stroke assessment and documentation
• Neuro stepdown clinical care and monitoring
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record
• ACLS and acute cardiac/respiratory support basics
• Medical-surgical nursing fundamentals and critical thinking
• Familiarity with Nursys license verification processes and credentialing documentation
