Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to Neuro Stepdown (SDU) patients
• Perform focused neurological assessments and monitor trends closely
• Manage telemetry and advanced monitoring equipment to detect changes early
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document thoroughly
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and update care plans
• Educate patients and families about neurological conditions and recovery
• Escalate changes in patient condition promptly to physicians and leadership

Qualifications

• Current RN license (eligible to practice in Louisiana)
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BLS required; ACLS and neuro-focused certifications preferred
• Prior experience in stepdown/telemetry or neuro nursing is strongly preferred
• Ability to work 12.5-hour clinical shifts and function well in fast-paced settings
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred where available.

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in neurological assessment and recognizing subtle changes
• Experience with telemetry, hemodynamic monitoring and post-op neuro care
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• Solid clinical judgment, prioritization and critical thinking
• Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with EMR systems
• Effective collaboration with physicians, therapists and support staff
