Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients in the emergency department
- Rapidly assess, triage and prioritize patient needs in a fast-paced setting
- Administer medications, start IVs and perform ED-specific procedures safely and accurately
- Collaborate closely with physicians, techs and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in the electronic health record
- Participate fully in orientation, unit-based training and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtained soon after hire
- Previous ED or emergency nursing experience preferred
- Comfortable with 12.5-hour shift work and adaptable scheduling
- Strong clinical judgment, effective communication and teamwork skills
Education
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Triage principles and emergency assessment skills
- IV insertion, medication administration and basic ED procedures
- Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate documentation
- Critical thinking under pressure and rapid decision making
- Excellent patient communication and family-centered care approach
