Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor and delivery care for high-risk antepartum and intrapartum patients, keeping safety and positive outcomes front and center
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring (EFM) and recognize/treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns quickly and confidently
• Circulate for C-sections and assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, including cerclage and D&C cases
• Administer critical medications such as magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and antihypertensives while monitoring maternal and fetal response
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Anesthesia, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Rapid Response, etc.) to coordinate seamless patient care
• Document care accurately in Epic and maintain clear communication with patients and families during emotionally intense moments
• Support neonatal transitions and coordinate with neonatal teams for immediate post-delivery care

Qualifications

• Active RN license appropriate for practice in California (pending licenses are NOT accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience — this is a hard stop, no exceptions
• Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (NCC EFM cert may be accepted in place of Intermediate AWHONN)
• AWHONN Advanced preferred
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections and assist with deliveries
• Comfort working in large, high-acuity hospital settings and managing 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with external fetal monitoring (EFM) and interpretation of fetal heart tracings
• Strong assessment and triage skills for antepartum and intrapartum care
• Medication administration experience with magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and antihypertensives
• Skilled in perioperative circulation for cesarean sections and supporting vaginal deliveries
• Familiarity with Epic charting and accurate, timely documentation
• Ability to work independently while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced Magnet-designated facility
