Roles & Responsibilities

Screen, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, language, cognition, and swallowing disorders
Provide professional consultations and collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and social workers to plan safe discharges
Perform adult swallowing evaluations and dysphagia treatment using FEES and related tools
Document clinical findings and treatment plans clearly and efficiently in the patient record
Operate and maintain specialty equipment such as endoscope, VitalStim, electrolarynx, and augmentative communication devices
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to patient-centered care planning

Qualifications

Current Hawaii State license as a Speech Language Pathologist
Current ASHA certification (CCC-SLP)
Current CPR certification at BLS/HCP level
Completion of a FEES course required; if not completed at hire, must complete within six months
Minimum of 1 year of acute care SLP experience is preferred
Prior FEES clinical experience and familiarity with MBSImP highly desirable

Education

Relevant advanced degree typical for inpatient rehabilitation clinicians (degree not explicitly specified in posting)
Required professional licensure and certifications as listed in qualifications

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in swallowing assessment and dysphagia treatment
Skilled in communication and cognitive evaluation and treatment
Comfortable using FEES, endoscope, VitalStim, electrolarynx, and augmentative/alternative communication tools
Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and patient assessment skills
Proficient computer skills for documentation and clinical tools
