Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, primarily nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM as needed); schedule includes every-other-week rotations, 4 weekend shifts per month, expected holiday coverage, and flexibility for EOW (every other week) assignments. Night-focused (NOC) with float to Pediatric ER when scheduled.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency care for adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced ED
• Perform triage, assess acuity, and prioritize care for approximately 325 visits per day across departments
• Interpret EKGs and participate in STEMI/CVA workflows and procedural sedation when indicated
• Manage ER holds and coordinate care with physicians, mid-level providers, and ED techs
• Float to the Pediatric ER as scheduled and deliver age-appropriate emergency nursing
• Collaborate with monitor techs, respiratory therapists, and ancillary services for rapid interventions
• Document care accurately in Cerner and complete orientation competency testing as required

Qualifications

• Active RN license for California (or eligible to obtain prior to start)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience required; significant pediatric ER experience required for Peds assignments
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Strong triage experience and comfort with high-volume ED patient loads
• Comfortable with EKG interpretation and common ED procedures including procedural sedation workflows
• Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

Education

• Active RN license required
• ADN/Associate degree or diploma in nursing acceptable; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing best practices for adult and pediatric populations
• Triage assessment and rapid patient prioritization
• Basic and advanced EKG interpretation and STEMI/CVA recognition
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical record
• Familiarity with ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow therapy and respiratory interventions
• Telemetry monitoring and collaboration with monitor techs
• Phlebotomy and ED-specific procedures
• Fast track and high-volume ED flow management
