Roles & Responsibilities

• Clean, decontaminate, wrap and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment to rigorous standards
• Manage sterile supply inventory and restock sterile processing areas to ensure surgical readiness
• Inspect instruments for damage and proper function, ensuring patient safety and surgical efficiency
• Document sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and compliance with facility protocols
• Collaborate with OR and clinic teams to prioritize case needs and respond to urgent requests
• Participate in rotating weekend/holiday on-call coverage to support continuous patient care

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of sterile processing experience
• Current CSPDT (Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) or CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification required
• Comfortable with rotating weekend and holiday on-call responsibilities
• Strong attention to detail, ability to follow strict sterilization protocols, and good communication with surgical teams

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• CSPDT or CRCST certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Instrument sterilization and decontamination procedures
• Sterile instrument wrapping and sterile supply handling
• Inventory management and tracking systems
• Familiarity with CSPDT/CRCST standards and best practices
• Understanding of infection prevention, AAMI/OSHA guidelines, and documentation of sterilization cycles
• Team collaboration and effective communication with OR and clinic staff
