Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by ensuring sterile instruments and supplies are ready
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and anticipating needs
• Maintain strict sterile technique to protect patient safety
• Assist with set up and breakdown of surgical equipment and instrumentation
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, nurses, and support staff to keep cases running smoothly
• Participate in orientation activities and follow facility-specific policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willing to obtain
• Previous OR or surgical tech experience preferred but new grads with strong clinical training considered
• Ability to pass facility background checks and meet credentialing requirements
• Dependable, team-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Willingness to attend orientation and complete facility-specific training

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and OR instrumentation
• Familiarity with surgical case flow and operating room protocols
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team
• Ability to prioritize tasks and anticipate surgeons' needs
• Comfort with basic OR technology and equipment setup
• Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
