Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
• Manage psychopharmacologic care, monitor medication response, and adjust as needed
• Provide crisis intervention and acute assessment when urgent situations arise
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary mental health and correctional staff to coordinate care
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with facility policies
• Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to quality improvement efforts
• Ensure patient safety and confidentiality while working within a correctional setting

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted medical license in California or eligibility to obtain one
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry preferred
• Current DEA registration or ability to obtain DEA registration
• Experience in psychiatric assessment and medication management
• Comfort working in a correctional or forensic mental health environment is a plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred

Education

• MD or DO degree with completed residency in Psychiatry

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric treatments
• Skilled in risk assessment, crisis management, and de-escalation techniques
• Excellent clinical documentation and electronic health record skills
• Ability to collaborate with custody and healthcare teams in a secure environment
• Cultural sensitivity and effective communication with diverse patient populations
