Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients
• Assess, monitor and document patient status, responding quickly to changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update patient care plans
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments and discharge instructions
• Ensure accurate, timely charting in the electronic health record
• Support unit operations through efficient handoffs and clear communication

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Louisiana (or compact RN where applicable)
• Prior medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, IV and medication administration skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and function well in a fast-paced hospital setting
• Reliable, team-oriented attitude and excellent communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• BSN preferred but all qualified RN candidates are encouraged to apply

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of adult medical-surgical nursing principles
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medications and patient monitoring
• Experience with electronic health record documentation
• Strong prioritization and critical thinking skills
• Effective collaboration with physicians, therapists and support staff
• Patient and family education techniques
