Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide timely, compassionate emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
• Perform rapid triage and focused assessments to prioritize care
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate closely with physicians, techs and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Document patient status and interventions clearly in the medical record
• Respond effectively to trauma alerts and emergency situations
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments and discharge instructions
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized clinical environment

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Hawaii license or applicable compact status preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Emergency Department experience preferred but enthusiastic new ED nurses are welcome to apply
• Current certifications such as PALS or TNCC are a plus
• Ability to work 12.5-hour clinical shifts and adapt to ED pace

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred
• Completion of accredited nursing program and active RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment skills
• IV therapy, medication administration and acute care interventions
• Strong critical thinking and rapid decision-making abilities
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families and team members
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Ability to prioritize multiple high-acuity patients in a fast-paced setting
