Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist with perioperative patient care in the operating room to ensure safe, efficient surgeries
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and surgical instrumentation with meticulous attention to detail
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team to deliver coordinated care
• Assess and monitor patient status before, during, and after procedures to ensure optimal outcomes
• Document patient care, medications, and interventions accurately in the medical record
• Advocate for patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the surgical experience
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
• Experience or training in Operating Room/perioperative nursing (OR) strongly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS, CNOR) a plus
• Comfortable with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and perioperative protocols
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to stay calm and focused in high-pressure situations
• Ability to pass required background checks and facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and aseptic technique knowledge
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, supplies, and instrumentation setup
• Patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring skills
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Strong situational awareness, prioritization, and critical thinking
