Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for nuclear medicine studies with care and clear communication
• Perform high-quality diagnostic nuclear medicine scans following established protocols
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and document doses accurately
• Operate and perform routine troubleshooting on gamma cameras, dose calibrators, survey meters, well counters, and thyroid uptake probes
• Maintain radiation safety and adhere to safety protocols and required PPE
• Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the workspace and equipment
• Document procedures and communicate findings effectively with radiologists and physicians
• Participate in teaching and instructional activities to support team learning
• Provide compassionate patient care across all ages, responding appropriately to developmental and clinical needs

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (required)
• Current BLS/HCP certification (required)
• One (1) year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred (new graduates are welcome)
• Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, radiopharmaceutical administration, and radiation safety
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills; able to collaborate with radiologists and physicians
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift/carry up to 30 lbs as part of clinical duties

Education

• Current Hawaii Nuclear Medicine Technologist license
• Current BLS/HCP certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient preparation and compassionate bedside manner
• Diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging principles
• Radiation safety and safety protocols
• Operation of gamma camera, dose calibrator, survey meter, well counter, and thyroid uptake probe
• Radiopharmaceutical administration and dose documentation
• Equipment troubleshooting and basic maintenance
• Clear communication with radiologists, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams
• Teaching/instructional skills and ability to work independently in a single-tech site
