Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead infection prevention efforts across the hospital, with a focus on the operating room and sterile processing
• Monitor and audit sterile processing and OR practices to ensure compliance with standards
• Investigate suspected healthcare-associated infections and coordinate corrective actions
• Develop, update, and implement infection control policies, protocols, and best practices
• Provide timely education and training to clinical and non-clinical staff on infection prevention
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive quality improvement and patient safety
• Maintain accurate surveillance data, prepare reports, and communicate findings to leadership

Qualifications

• Clinical nursing license appropriate for practice in the state (e.g., RN licensure) — verify state requirements
• Demonstrated experience in infection control within a community hospital setting
• Strong background working with operating room and sterile processing practices
• Excellent communication and teaching skills for staff education and policy rollouts
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or related credential is a plus

Education

• Nursing degree or equivalent clinical qualification (ADN/BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of infection prevention and control principles
• Experience with Operating Room (OR) workflows and sterile processing standards
• Ability to perform infection surveillance, data analysis, and reporting
• Familiarity with hospital infection control programs and regulatory requirements
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and interpersonal skills
