Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered critical care to adult ICU patients using evidence-based practice
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, hemodynamics, and ventilator parameters to keep patients safe
• Manage ventilators, central lines, IV therapy, and blood transfusions with precision and attention to detail
• Perform clinical procedures such as port access, therapeutic phlebotomy, and assist with physician-led paracentesis
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Meditech Expanse to ensure continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapy, and ancillary staff to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatment plans, and discharge needs with compassion and clarity
• Support unit workflow, mentor colleagues when appropriate, and contribute to a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (compact accepted where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• BLS and ACLS required; current NIH certification required (annual)
• Proven experience with telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, and central line care
• Comfortable with CPAP/BiPAP, port access, and therapeutic phlebotomy
• Experience documenting in Meditech Expanse preferred
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour night shifts and cover every-other-weekend

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and ICU best practices
• Telemetry interpretation and advanced cardiac monitoring
• Mechanical ventilator management and troubleshooting
• IV/central line management and blood transfusion protocols
• Familiarity with chest tube, NG tube, wound VAC, and drain care
• Proficiency with Baxter pumps, iMobile systems, and glucometer use
• Clear, timely clinical documentation and strong communication skills
• Teamwork, adaptability, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
