Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to adults in the Step-Down Unit
• Monitor and assess patients continuously, recognizing and responding to clinical changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
• Perform timely and thorough handoffs and maintain clear communication with the care team
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
• Experience caring for patients in a Step-Down Unit, telemetry, or similar acute care setting preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Comfortable and able to work 12.5-hour clinical shifts
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and recognizing arrhythmias
• Proficient in IV therapy, medication administration, and post-procedure care
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced acute setting
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Teamwork mindset and effective interdisciplinary communication
