Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns promptly
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Document patient care and clinical observations clearly in the medical record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license (eligible to practice in Louisiana)
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing (Med/Surg) — clinical competence with med/surg patient needs
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willing to obtain per facility requirements
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and documentation skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; patient-centered approach

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-surgical nursing principles and patient assessment
• Medication administration and IV therapy fundamentals
• Wound care and basic post-operative management
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate charting
• Infection control practices and patient safety protocols
• Critical thinking, prioritization, and effective time management
