Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality emergency nursing care to patients in the ED
• Perform rapid assessments and triage to prioritize patient needs
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team for coordinated care
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or eligible for state licensure)
• Experience or interest in Emergency Department (ED/ER) nursing
• BLS required; ACLS and other ED-relevant certifications preferred
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts, including nights and weekends as needed
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment skills
• IV therapy, medication administration, and trauma care fundamentals
• Familiarity with ED workflows and rapid patient turnover
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
• Effective communication with patients, families, and clinical teams
