Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality critical care to oncology/BMT ICU patients, making every shift count
• Manage ventilators and BiPAP patients, adjusting settings and responding to changes in real time
• Titrate vasoactive drips and IV infusions safely and accurately
• Perform total care duties including turning, dressing changes, tracheostomy care, and complex wound management
• Operate and troubleshoot unit equipment: CRRT, IV pumps, Flow-Track and A-lines
• Document patient care thoroughly in Meditech EMR and maintain clear communication with the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other interdisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain appropriate patient ratios (generally 2:1) and escalate concerns promptly

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license for Texas (required)
• Minimum 1 year ICU experience (explicitly required)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• Strong experience with ventilator management, titrating drips and caring for critically ill patients
• Comfortable with BiPAP, tracheostomy care, and total care for complex oncology/BMT patients
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• CRRT and transplant experience (kidney/pancreas/liver) strongly preferred

Education

• Active RN license in Texas (required)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and bedside assessment
• Ventilator management and BiPAP support
• Titration of vasoactive drips and IV medication safety
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) familiarity
• A-line management and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Use of Meditech electronic medical record
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced ICU with strong teamwork and communication
