Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in the fast-paced ED environment
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adults and children presenting with urgent needs
• Administer medications, start IVs, and perform necessary procedures safely and confidently
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and other team members to coordinate care and streamline patient flow
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns promptly
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and professionally
• Participate in emergency response, resuscitation efforts, and rapid patient stabilization when needed
• Contribute to a positive patient experience by communicating clearly and supporting families

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Hawaii licensure or compact/state-appropriate) required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Emergency Department experience preferred; new grads with strong ED clinical skills considered for per-diem roles
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and adapt to variable schedules
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and triage skills
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and rapid patient assessment in emergency settings
• IV therapy, medication administration, and wound care
• Familiarity with ED workflows, patient flow and throughput principles
• Basic and advanced cardiac life support knowledge
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritize tasks
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient- and family-centered care
• Electronic medical record documentation proficiency
