Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit
• Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, including telemetry
• Administer medications, IV therapies and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Document care clearly and timely in the patient record

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license in Louisiana (or eligible for compact licensure)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Experience caring for progressive care/step-down patients is preferred
• Strong assessment and telemetry monitoring skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital setting
• Positive communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making for higher-acuity patients
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• IV therapy, medication administration and infusion management
• Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and manage time during 12.5-hour shifts
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient/family education and teamwork
