Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients in the PACU
Monitor vital signs, respiratory status and pain levels, and intervene promptly
Collaborate closely with anesthesia, surgical teams and families for safe handoffs
Administer medications and treatments per protocols and document care accurately
Educate families on recovery expectations and discharge instructions with empathy
Maintain a safe, calm recovery environment and escalate concerns appropriately

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential
Experience or training in PACU nursing with a focus on pediatric patients
Comfort working with children and their families during the immediate postoperative period
Willingness to participate in orientation and unit-specific training

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of post-anesthesia recovery practices and monitoring
Familiarity with pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication
Skilled in accurate documentation and medication administration
Ability to work collaboratively in a perioperative team and manage priorities under pressure
