Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality orthopedic nursing care for post-op and medical-surgical patients
• Perform dressing changes and manage wound vac maintenance and removal with diligence
• Assess and manage Foley catheters and NG tubes safely and according to policy
• Remove sutures and staples and document wound progress in Cerner accurately
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support discharge planning and mobility goals
• Monitor patient vitals and respond to changes in condition promptly and effectively
• Support a positive patient experience by caring like family and adapting to a fast-paced unit

Qualifications

• Active NC Registered Nurse license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (as listed in the posting)
• Orthopedics or Med-Surg experience highly preferred
• Comfortable with Cerner EMR or similar electronic charting systems
• Able to work nights and provide every-other-weekend coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong proficiency with Cerner documentation and electronic charting
• Skilled in wound care, dressing changes, and wound vac management
• Competent in Foley catheter and NG tube care
• Ability to remove sutures and staples and assess wound healing
• Familiarity with mobility equipment (walkers, lifts, commodes) and safe patient handling
• Team-oriented communication and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
