Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR team members to ensure smooth procedures
• Prepare the OR and ensure all instruments, supplies, and equipment are ready
• Monitor patient condition intraoperatively and communicate changes promptly
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and accurate documentation
• Mentor and support newer staff and contribute to a positive team culture

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact license where applicable
• Previous OR/operating room nursing experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• CNOR certification a plus but not required
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in fast-paced surgical settings

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments and procedures
• Patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring
• Teamwork, situational awareness, and critical thinking
• Accurate charting and documentation practices
• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing case flow
