Registered Nurse - Neuro Stepdown
Location: Marrero, LA
Start Date: 04-27-2026
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: 12.5-hour shifts; exact start/end times and scheduled days to be confirmed with facility (RN - Neuro Stepdown / SDU)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to neuro stepdown patients
- Perform focused neurological assessments and promptly escalate changes
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry for critically observed patients
- Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care plans
- Document patient status, interventions and outcomes clearly in the EMR
- Educate patients and families about condition, care plan and discharge needs
- Assist with admissions, transfers and smooth handoffs at shift changes
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or appropriate state authorization
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Experience or strong interest in Neuro Stepdown/SDU care
- Comfort with telemetry monitoring and post-critical care nursing
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills and teamwork mindset
Knowledge & Skills
- Focused neurological assessment and stroke-related care principles
- Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring
- Medication administration including IV infusions and titratable drips
- Familiarity with EMR documentation and accurate charting
- Critical thinking in fast-paced, acuity-variable environments
- Effective interdisciplinary communication and patient education
