Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality PCU/stepdown nursing care to adult patients (and adolescents 15+) on a 55-bed unit
• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to detect changes early and escalate appropriately
• Administer and manage IV drips and Alaris infusion pumps including PCA pumps for pain management
• Perform thorough patient assessments and implement individualized care plans
• Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, social workers and case managers for smooth discharges
• Conduct hourly rounding and maintain excellent patient responsiveness and experience
• Float to med-surg areas as needed and adapt quickly to changing unit needs
• Participate in unit-based initiatives to improve staffing, workflows and patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license valid for practice in the state of Nebraska
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS; NIHSS certification required for submission
• Minimum of 2 years of RN clinical experience (PCU/stepdown or similar telemetry experience preferred)
• Driver's license required at time of submittal to meet radius rule
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and every-other-weekend scheduling
• Willingness to complete unit orientation and pass the required skills exam (90% pass threshold)

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required for this role

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and stepdown/PCU patient management
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record system
• Experience using Alaris IV pumps and PCA pump management
• Medication knowledge including cardiac drips such as cardizem and insulin therapy
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization and care coordination skills
• Familiarity with mechanical lifts and safe patient handling
• Effective hourly rounding and patient experience focus
• Ability to function well in a busy, team-oriented environment
