Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to med/surg patients
• Perform thorough assessments and monitor patient status, trends, and responses to care
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Participate in unit orientation and contribute to a positive team culture
• Ensure safe handoffs and clear communication during shift changes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; additional certifications encouraged
• Clinical experience or strong interest in medical-surgical nursing (experience welcomed but per-diem roles may suit newer grads with solid clinical training)
• Strong assessment skills, clinical judgment, and patient advocacy
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team-based setting
• Ability to work flexible per-diem shifts, including days and evenings as needed

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, ASN, or BSN). BSN preferred when available.

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and standards
• Medication administration and safe documentation practices
• Skilled in patient assessment, IV therapy basics, and wound care
• Comfortable using electronic health records and charting accurately
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond to changing patient needs
• Customer-service mindset with a focus on patient education and family support
