Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients in the Step-Down Unit (SDU)
Monitor and assess patient status continuously and intervene as needed
Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute care plans
Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments and discharge plans
Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and participate in emergency response

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) — required
Experience working in a Step-Down Unit (SDU) — required
Current RN licensure as required by the facility/state
Certifications such as BLS/ACLS as required or preferred by the employer

Education

Nursing diploma, ASN or BSN as required by the facility

Knowledge & Skills

Skilled in patient assessment and telemetry monitoring pertinent to SDU care
Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking under changing conditions
Effective communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
Accurate medication administration and documentation practices
Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced acute care environment
