Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality MedSurg and telemetry nursing care for a fast-paced, surgical-heavy unit
• Monitor and accurately interpret cardiac rhythms using Phillips telemetry equipment
• Administer and manage set-rate drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin) per unit protocol
• Perform timely admissions, discharges, and post-surgical patient management
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT, pharmacy (Omnicell), hospitalists/intensivists, and CNAs
• Float between MedSurg/Tele units (MSW & MHB) and cover ICU/ER holds as needed
• Participate actively in AM huddles and follow unit-specific orientation and safety procedures
• Maintain strict adherence to attendance policy and holiday rotation expectations

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to submit)
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience (as listed in job details)
• Current ACLS, BLS and NIHSS certifications (required)
• Strong MedSurg and telemetry experience with proven ability to read cardiac rhythms
• Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP management and non-titratable drip protocols
• Comfort caring for post-surgical patients including bariatrics and total joints, and stroke patients
• Cerner experience preferred (candidates with recent Cerner experience may test out of training)
• Reliable, punctual, and able to meet weekend and holiday rotation requirements

Education

• BSN not required (position accepts non-BSN RNs; ADN or diploma holders are welcome)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation (Phillips monitors)
• Set-rate drip management: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin
• MedSurg postoperative care and high-acuity surgical volume workflows
• Experience with Cerner charting system and Omnicell medication workflows
• Ability to float across MedSurg, Telemetry, and assist with ICU/ER holds
• Strong triage, assessment, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication and teamwork with RT, pharmacy, charge nurses, and house supervisors
