Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality post-anesthesia nursing care to PACU patients
- Continuously monitor and assess patient status, including vitals, pain control, and recovery progress
- Administer medications and interventions safely in accordance with policies
- Coordinate timely and effective handoffs with surgical and anesthesia teams
- Educate patients and families on recovery expectations and discharge instructions
- Document patient care accurately and promptly in the medical record
- Participate in orientation and unit-based teamwork to support excellent patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to meet state requirements for practice)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; advanced certifications such as ACLS preferred
- Clinical experience in PACU or post-operative care is highly desirable
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with perioperative and anesthesia teams
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Post-anesthesia patient assessment and monitoring
- Pain management and medication administration
- Airway and hemodynamic monitoring basics
- Comfortable with electronic health record documentation
- Strong teamwork, prioritization, and critical thinking
