Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory care ordered by physicians, ensuring safe, effective treatments for patients from birth to geriatric
• Operate, maintain and monitor ventilators, Vapotherm, PAP/CPAP/BiPAP, oxygen devices and other respiratory equipment
• Perform arterial blood gas collection and analysis and operate ABG instruments for timely results
• Administer inhaled medications and prescribed gases accurately and safely
• Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection as needed for respiratory diagnostics
• Act as a clinical resource: support decision-making, assessments, treatments and documentation within respiratory protocols
• Review patient charts and histories prior to therapies or procedures to ensure informed, individualized care
• Document assessments, care plans, treatments, procedures, equipment setup and critical values thoroughly in the EMR
• Perform EKGs upon order or request and support physicians with data and clinical insights
• Fulfill night shift duties required by the respiratory department with professionalism and teamwork

Qualifications

• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NRP and PALS certifications
• Minimum 2+ years of respiratory therapy experience
• Proven ability in ventilator management, ABG analysis and oxygen therapy
• Comfortable performing EKGs and venipuncture
• Willingness to work night block schedule

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and respiratory equipment operation
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and analysis
• Inhaled medication administration and oxygen therapy best practices
• PAP/CPAP/BiPAP setup and monitoring
• Patient assessment across the lifespan (birth to geriatric)
• Clinical documentation and EMR proficiency
• Strong clinical decision-making and adherence to therapy protocols
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during night coverage
