Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgery
• Prepare operating room and sterile instruments, maintaining strict aseptic technique
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team for smooth case flow
• Monitor patient status and communicate changes promptly to the care team
• Document perioperative care accurately and thoroughly in the patient record
• Educate patients and families about perioperative expectations and recovery
• Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives in the OR

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Louisiana
• Perioperative or Operating Room experience preferred; OR-specific skills a strong plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
• Ability to work independently as a per diem clinician and integrate quickly into established teams
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced surgical environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of sterile technique and infection prevention in the OR
• Patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring skills
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and procedural workflows
• Accurate clinical documentation and time management
• Ability to prioritize, adapt, and collaborate under pressure
